Adding an SSD is one of the fastest upgrades you can do to improve responsiveness and boot times.

This guide walks you through the simple steps to install a 2.5" or M.2 SSD depending on your system.

Always ground yourself to avoid static discharge.

  1. Identify your SSD type

Determine if you're installing a SATA 2.5" SSD or an M.2 NVMe drive. Check your motherboard manual for supported slots.

  2. Power down & open the case

Shut down, unplug the PC, and open the case. Use a wrist strap if available.

  3. Mount the SSD

For 2.5" drives: secure in a drive bay or bracket and connect a SATA cable. For M.2: insert at an angle and fasten with the screw.

  4. Connect power and data

Connect SATA power from the PSU and the SATA data cable to the motherboard (skip for M.2).

  5. Boot and initialize

Power on, enter BIOS to confirm detection, then in your OS initialize and format the drive as needed.

If you run into issues, recheck connections and consult your motherboard manual.

Enjoy the faster load times!
